Welcome to Will Lewis Music

Thank you for stopping by my new website! Please take a look around. There´s a lot to see, read, and hear. I hope you enjoy it.

I am a Christian songwriter and author. My songs and book reflect my persistent spiritual thirst and my desire to write about what I observe in this world. So, if you also have a persistent spiritual thirst and also like to thoughtfully observe the world, you have come to the right place.

I´ve been a slow learner when it comes to the most important spiritual lessons. Sometimes my journey has been too easy for my own good. At other times, it has been rough and destructive to me and others. Spending my twenties in Las Vegas during the 1960s and 70s didn´t help a lot, although I thought it was great at the time. Over the years, I´ve done and thought a lot of things that were better left undone and unthought. However, I have gradually grown to the point where I can bless the hard miles and the easy-but-unwise miles because the lessons I eventually learned helped make me the person I am today. I still have a long way to go, but I´m better than I used to be.

My music is spiritual and edgy. I talk about topics that many Christian songwriters in the public arena don´t address. I´m not sure why they don´t address them. There is certainly more demand for praise-and-worship songs and prayer songs that people can join in and sing, and there´s nothing wrong with that. I have never been a sing-along player. I realized long ago that if I want to write about the spiritual implications of what I observe in this world, I´m going to have to be satisfied with a more limited audience.

My songs are about the temptations and trials that prevail in post modern American culture for anyone attracted to the easy and the convenient. I sing about the choices we have to make in daily life and their spiritual consequences. When we make choices, we also choose the consequences. We grow or wither spiritually depending on the choices we make as well as the way we react to the consequences our choices generate. I have great empathy for people who have made big life mistakes and I want to help them see that the aftermath of these mistakes can serve as opportunities for growth and stepping stones to a less chaotic and more moral life. My book shows that there is a big-picture spiritual pattern and direction to the chaotic cultural mess America is in. If you think America is going great guns, nothing needs to go in a different direction, and all we need is more of what we´ve got, then you need to find another book (and probably another website). The book ties together human nature, human history, the Book of Revelation, and the design of snow to provide an illuminating look at where humanity has been, where it is now, and where it is headed. Below are some brief descriptions of what is available on this website.

CD: Be Bold

This is the first album, released in 2010. It´s about what it really means to "be bold." American culture encourages us to worship autonomy and the marketplace promotes certain types of cocky "boldness" in order to sell us more stuff. In a historical age such as ours, choosing goodness in the face of this onslaught of "liberating" propaganda is the true bold choice. The good news is that the Holy Spirit is around to support us if we simply ask for guidance, listen, and follow the small, quiet voice in our hearts. In addition, the Spirit will occasionally send individuals into our lives to trigger critical changes in our paths. Sometimes these individuals are only around for a little while. Sometimes they stay and never give up trying to help us become the person God dreams us to be. If you have been resenting or ignoring such a person in your life, take a second look at yourself and that person. Click on the Be Bold CD for more.

CD: That´s Why Tomorrow Is a New Day

This is the second album, released in 2011. It´s about getting out of a rut, escaping mental paralysis, and changing one´s life. Christianity is a religion of change. If we´re not changing, we´re not doing it right. This album surveys some of the traps that keep us spinning our wheels (at best) and pulling us down the drain (at worst). Worrying, wanting a magic solution, flirting with strangers, co-dependency, enabling predatory people, sleep deprivation. It´s all here but the kitchen sink. CD: Eye of the Storm

This is the third album, released in 2011. It´s about resisting the incessant noise and chaos of the relentless media stream – the advertising, the talking heads, the false prophets, fake controversies, bogus solutions, misleading promises, flaunting temptations, celebrity worship - everything our culture is forever waving in front of our faces. There will be an accounting for all this behavior and it is a good idea to get on the right side of the ledger. Click on the Eye of the Storm CD for more.

Book: Sign For Our Time: God´s Salvation Plan and the Symbolism of Snow

This is published under my pen name, William Lewis Klein. If you are adventurous, I invite you to take a journey. This book is about a Messenger, a Journey, and a Message. It begins with a look at the curious role of water in the Bible and moves on to a look at the structure of snow crystals. This is the Messenger. Then the book takes a big-picture look at human nature and how it has shaped the three great ages of human history. This is the Journey. Lastly, the book surveys how individuals seek worldly salvation in post-modern American culture and how these efforts relate to the Book of Revelation. This is the Message. This book is about the cultural sea in which we swim and where the current is taking us. Out on the ocean, it´s easy to spot the dead things; they´re floating on the surface and always going with the flow. At a deeper level, one finds the living things. It takes a living thing to swim against the current. Choose life. Click on the Sign For Our Time book cover for more.

Gallery

Anything can show up here. The background is a photo of the coffee table top in my living room, which seems appropriate because the real table top is always covered with pictures, papers, song lyrics, and Post it Notes. The Gallery will have a changing collection of assorted photos and whatever else seems interesting at the moment. Check out my gallery.
